33 million TWS headphones shipped worldwide in Q3 2019!  Apple's share fell to 45%, Xiaomi ranked second, and Sinodec Industrial Co., ltd. Also recently launched TWS Bluetooth headsets.

In the past two years, with the promotion of Apple AirPods, the entire market for true wireless Bluetooth headsets (TWS headsets) is very popular. Most domestic mobile phone and digital brand manufacturers have entered this market.

According to a new report from research firm Counterpoint Research, in the third quarter of 2019, the global TWS headset market reached 33 million units, an increase of 22% from the previous quarter.  The market size also reached $ 4.1 billion.

Geographically, the United States accounts for 31% of the global TWS headset market, and in the third quarter of this year, sales exceeded 10 million units for the first time.  In contrast, China ’s TWS headset market is also growing rapidly, with a quarter-on-quarter growth of 44%.

From the perspective of specific brands, Apple ’s AirPods wireless headset sales are still far ahead, occupying 45% of the market share, but compared with 53% market share in the previous quarter, there has been a significant decline.  This is mainly due to the intensified market competition, more and more large manufacturers have begun to enter, and the impact of other relatively cheap TWS headphones.

It should be noted that since the data of Counterpoint Research only counts the third quarter of 2019, this data is not included. The data of Apple ’s newly released AirPods Pro in October is no doubt that with the AirPods Pro ’s  The launch will have a positive effect on Apple's overall sales of wireless headphones in the fourth quarter.

With the help of cheap Xiaomi Bluetooth headsets Air, AirDots, and Redmi AirDots, Xiaomi's market share in the third quarter reached 9%, ranking second in the world.  Ranked third is Samsung, the world's largest mobile phone maker, with only 6% market share in the TWS headset market.  And in the second half of 2018, Huawei, the world's third largest mobile phone brand manufacturer that entered the TWS headset market, did not enter the top five this time.  Although it released a new generation of FreeBuds 3 in September this year, this product did not go on sale until November, so it did not drive Huawei's sales in the third quarter of this year.

JBL, the traditional manufacturer of speaker audio products, ranked fourth.  In addition, Beats, a brand acquired by Apple, also stands out because their recent product, Powerbeats Pro, has been well received by consumers and ranks fifth in global shipments.

It is worth mentioning that Amoi, a Chinese brand, is also eye-catching. Its F9 headphones have sold well, surpassing QCY, ranking sixth in the world, and becoming a new leader in low-cost TWS headphones.

Judging from the proportion of sales, thanks to the relatively high unit price of AirPods, Apple has won more than 60% of the market.  The fifth-ranked Beats ranked second in sales.  Third and fourth in sales are Samsung and JBL, which are also the same as their sales rankings.  In comparison, Xiaomi, which ranked second in sales, ranked only eighth because of its lower unit price.  While Huawei TWS headset sales have not entered the top ten, Huawei has successfully entered the top ten in sales.

Judging from the current TWS market, there is still much room for growth in the future. After all, smartphone shipments exceed 1.4 billion units a year, and TWS headset shipments this year may have just exceeded 100 million units.

Counterpoint Research senior analyst Liz Lee also believes that due to good convenience, consumers will increasingly choose true wireless headset products.  Under the constant promotion of manufacturers, the concept of true wireless headphones as "the most useful and convenient smartphone accessory" is also rapidly spreading to consumers.

However, for such a big cake, it has attracted a lot of manufacturers to enter. For example, this year, Amazon launched Echo Buds and Microsoft also launched Surface Earbuds, which entered the TWS headset market.  Coupled with the influx of more and more Chinese manufacturers, competition in the TWS headset market will become more intense in the future.
